Nurturing Touch helps mothers with Postpartum Depression & their infants
Believe it or not, Postpartum Depression happens in one of every eight women, especially at the mothers of premature because the mother is struggling with the loss of a “normal” birth and watch their infant fight for life in the NICU. The concept of nurturing touch, however, can bridge the gap between mother and infant while providing emotional, medical and developmental benefits. Massaging the infant can encourage parent-infant interaction and communication, promote the bonding and attachment between parent and infant. Both parties can feel the intimacy and build up the feeling of security and fulfilment. The level of anxious and stress of the mothers will go down.
